The implications of new Tech on social media culture and the influence on audiences

Technology giving us new culture and voices for the masses

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the other platforms have one major thing in common, "Social media has given visible platforms to people who previously had no voice." (Johansson, 2018) Which allows people to connect, and form groups of interest. It also provides a place for outspoken, antisocial and trolling people to interact and comment. How has social media affected you?

How has social media affected us and culture?
Public wants information and products instantly!

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Spotify, Itunes

It is not necessarily media multitasking, "but this habit of texting while listening to music, or playing a video game, or posting a picture or video, or checking the time of a movie is really multitask-switching." (Kolodzy, 2019)  We have round the clock access  to media (Hill, 2022) Media is more audience centric, public becomes creators of content and the newest celebrities. They are the influencers, the advertisers and the new story tellers. Gone are the days of quietly reading books and a family gathering by the T.V. watching a show.

New careers and jobs are created through content creators and influencers, new millionaires!
The internet has created a workforce that can work remotely, even the term "remotely" is a term used to coin those who work from home with the aid of technology. Technology systems are invented by humans and reflect the needs of a society. The technological solution and the human needs are inseparable from each other.  They are partners that take a culture from a survival level to a level where the culture thrives. (Wardynski, 2019)
